The ASPCA and HSUS both began as well-meaning and beneficial organizations. The ASPCA has a beneficial poison control center, and the HSUS fights against hunting and illegally trading many endangered species. But they have become corrupt organizations who murder more animals than they save.
The ASPCA and HSUS could become organizations that help animals not only escape from bad situations but also find new homes and new lives. They could become organizations that spend the majority of their money on saving animals and preventing euthanasia. They could become organizations worthy of donations through good leadership and outside support. But for now, they are not trustworthy with any donations or help.
One way to help animals is by supporting the legislation that supports helping animals find new homes. Before supporting legislation, read into it and make sure it is what it claims to be. Remember, support from ASPCA and HSUS does not mean the legislation is worth supporting, but it does not mean it isn't worth your support.
It is unclear whether HSUS or ASPCA is more worthy of donations, or even if PETA is actually a better organization. The truth is, they are all bad.
Donate to a local, no kill animal shelter instead of a big organization, and you will be able to trust that your money is going to save animals from not only pain and suffering but also from death.
Adopt animals from reputable animal shelters who are no-kill. Make sure they provide their animals with good care before you adopt. Pet finder is a good site for finding animal shelters, but make sure you research individual shelters to find one worth your money and help.
Pikes Peak Animal Shelter is an example of a shelter worthy of donations and help. Visit their site below to see what a reputable animal shelter is like:
